About Kasey
Kasey Dunton has dedicated his career to family law since 2016, offering a wealth of experience as both a sole practitioner and a former firm attorney. Based in the Bay Area, he handles a wide range of family law issues, including custody and visitation, property division, support orders, pre-marital and post-marital agreements, guardianships, and appeals.
Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Kasey graduated from George Washington University at just 19 years old. He then attended the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, where he served as a student-attorney in a nationally-ranked legal clinic, helping low-income families navigate the family law system. After becoming an attorney in Maryland and D.C., Kasey spent five years representing employees facing workplace discrimination. These formative experiences instilled in him a belief that the legal profession can profoundly impact individuals who feel they are losing the life they envisioned.
In 2016, Kasey relocated to the Bay Area, returning to his roots in family law. He collaborates closely with clients to envision their next life phase, often facilitating amicable agreements between former partners. By tailoring creative solutions, Kasey empowers families to maintain control over their outcomes. When necessary, he is not hesitant to litigate, having handled over a dozen trials and presented winning arguments before California’s Fifth and Sixth Courts of Appeal.
Kasey is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Santa Clara Bar Association, San Mateo County Bar Association, San Francisco Bar Association, Alameda County Bar Association, and Contra Costa County Bar Association. Outside of the courtroom, Kasey served as an adjunct professor in the Paralegal Studies program at Evergreen Community College. He enjoys singing with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, where he has also contributed as a costumer. When he’s not in court or teaching, Kasey can be found knitting sweaters for family members in the Midwest or traveling the world with his partner of 15 years.
